Google plans to release a second-generation Pixel smartphone as follow-up to the successful Pixel launched in Oct 2016, Google hardware boss Rick Osterloh confirmed at Mobile World Conference this week.
"There is an annual rhythm in the industry. So, you can count on us to follow it." Osterloh reportedly declared at closed meeting during MWC. "You can count on a successor this year, even if you don't hear a date from me now."
Osterloh didn't provide specifics on the feature set of the Pixel 2 or when it may be released. However, his confirmation eases mind of Pixel fans who are looking forward to a follow up from Google, especially driven by the fact that Pixel has been in short supply since the day it launched.
However, the disappointing news for fans hoping for more affordable price, "Pixel stays premium," Osterloh reportedly added, indicating Google will stay in the premium range with the likes of premium devices like iPhone and upcoming Galaxy S8. Well, we are still looking forward for Google to deliver this premium device.
